Magic League
Welcome to one and all, we had over 60 people signed up for our previous League and people are super excited about the next one! We've made some modifications as we strive to improve the system. The most notable changes made were a reduction in the duration of the League from 10 weeks down to 6 weeks to compensate for all of our ADD players
the new "blind trade" rule requiring that you play people before seeing their trades as well as the new division system with invites to the final tournament. We've also added in more structured Wednesday night activities with additional prize support! Please contact the Aaron @ 602-978-0467 for additional details and http://www.manawerx.com for our calendar (posting soon).
League registration begins February 9th.
League participation begins March 9th.
Entry: $40.00 (payments can be made weekly after a $15 deposit)
Receive: 6 booster packs, 2 each of Zendikar, Rise of the Eldrazi, M11, Scars of Mirrodin, and/or Mirrodin Besieged plus much much more!
Every Wednesday Night @ 7pm an organized Magic League tournament will be held that is FREE to enter. The winner will usually receive a prize pack to add to their pool although some events a random pack will also be given. Magic League games may be played at any time though.
League Rules: Each league member will be given 6 packs. Each league member may then build a 60 card Standard Constructed legal deck from their card pool. The rest of their cards will be their sideboard. They may then choose up to 3 cards to exclude from the league (for example a foil Koth of the hammer you don't want to be tied up in a 6 week event).
-Each player may take 1 free mulligan during every game. Each player may also sideboard at the beginning of a game.
Based on the total number of players in the League, players will be assigned to a Magic League Division. This is to encourage people to play with people they may not know both within their division and without as a strategic bid to ensure their seats at the final tournament.
Each league member may play as many ROUNDS each week as they wish during weekly events, but score league points for the week only for their first 3 rounds. Each round beyond their first 3 counts for tiebreaker points instead. For league points, for each win, that player receives 3 points. For each loss or tie, that member receives 1 point. For tiebreaker points, for each win, that player receives 2 points, For each tie that member receives 0 points, and for each loss that member losses 1 point.
-Each league member may play another league member no more than 2 rounds each week and only 1 of those rounds may be for league point scoring.
-Each league member may NOT play the same opponents they played last week.
Each player may also sideboard at the beginning of a game. If a player misses a week they may make up points during the next week only, meaning the first 6 rounds they play count toward league points.
Each week a player may trade up to 2 cards per match for their first 6 matches, for a total trade of 12 cards per week.
PLAYERS MAY NOT LOOK AT OTHER PLAYERS TRADES PRIOR TO PLAYING NOR MAY THEY COACH A GAME IN PROGRESS.
Violation of either of these rules will result in a warning, followed by an automatic loss for the current week, followed by disqualification from the League until Season 3 begins.
At the end of each weekly event after March 9th, each league member may purchase up to 1 booster pack of Zendikar, Rise of Eldrazi, M11, or Scars of Mirrodin(for just $2.00!!!), and add them to their registered card pool.
At the end of the weekly event on April 6th, a full week will be taken for make up games and final standings, and entry invitations to the final tournament. The final tournament will be held on Saturday, April 23rd @ 12pm.
All scoring from league matches will only ensure a seat and placing at the final tournament, not prize support. Approximately 50% of the total number of league members will be invited to the final tournament. Of this ammount 25% will be division leaders, 50% will be the top league scorers that are not division leaders, and 25% will be wild card random invites.
The final tournament will be a swiss tournament, cut to top 8 with the number of rounds determined by the number of Magic League members.
Prizes: 3 Mirrodin Besieged booster packs per league member divided amongst the Top 4 Final Tournament Members to be handed out as closely to:
1st Place – 50% 2nd Place – 25% 3rd Place –12.5% 4th Place - 12.5%
(Example – 12 League members would pay out 18/9/5/4 – That’s a Box!!!)
Additional prizes will be given to the player who earns the most league achievements that did not receive any other league prizes!
